Burnout

IC Engine Car Designing Event
PROBLEM STATEMENT

The participants have to design a vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine which can complete the given track in least possible time along with certain obstacles on the way.

  • The teams must report at the time allocated to them.
  • Participants must place their vehicles before the start line and begin the race only when the signal is given.
  • In case of a false start, the race shall be restarted. More than three false starts will lead to disqualification.
  • If the vehicle does not have a still position, the team can hold the machine and release it on the ground when the signal is given.
  • Participants are advised to design the vehicle to prevent any damage that could be caused when it hits the boundaries. (CONCRETE CUBES, TYRES or BRICKS or WOOD)
  • OBSTACLES will be put in the path which will be revealed on the day of the event itself.
  • The track will be divided into segments with check-points signifying the beginning of each segment.
  • The machine should have good suspension and efficient braking mechanism for completing the track without any damage.
  • The track will be divided into segments. If the machine topples or goes out of track, the machine will be placed at the last completed check point by one of the team members. with check-points signifying the beginning of each segment.
  • If the machine develops a serious malfunction, a reasonable amount of time for repairs may be allotted. The time allotted will be decided on the spot by the event organizers.
  • If the machine damages the track then that team will be disqualified from the race.
  • The vehicles which may break down or disintegrate in their on-going trial will be disqualified pertaining to that trial.
  • The team must adhere to good behavior and spirit of competition. Any team not following this will be eliminated.
  • Judges decision is final and abiding to all.
  • In case of any dispute or discrepancies, all rights would be reserved with the Core committee of FootPrints X8.
  • Teams which are not satisfying any of the rule will be given a penalty.
  • Limited practice slots will be given before every round of the race and the slots will be given on a first come first served basis.
  • The teams will get to use the track only during the time of their practice slot.
  • The vehicle has to be powered by an IC engine with maximum piston displacement upto 4.6 cc.
  • Any machine which uses DC Motors for propulsion will be disqualified. However DC motors and servos can be used for steering mechanisms or any other control mechanisms apart from propulsion.
  • There is no restriction on type of the engine used (generally glow or diesel cycle engine), but engine should have throttle control.
  • The vehicle may not exceed the following dimensions: a length of 70 cm, a width of 50 cm and a height of 50 cm.
  • Antennae are exempted from height constraint.
  • The chassis of the machine should be at least 2cm above the ground.
  • Braking Mechanism is compulsory.
  • Guards on front and rear side are compulsory to prevent damage to the vehicle.
  • It is not compulsory to have Gear shifting mechanism (transmission) but participants having reverse gear will hold special advantage in completing track.
  • Teams have to compulsory bring a dual frequency remote control or two remote controls with different frequencies to avoid any frequency clash during the one on one race. (This is done by changing the crystal used in the remote and in the servo controller.)Time given will be 15 minutes.
  • The fuel to be used can be methanol along with castor OIL . The proportion is 70% methanol and 30% castor oil. Also you can use 10% nitro methane along with it.
  • The minimum tire size should be 25mm x 75mm.
  • You can use a turbo charger for producing more power.
  • There is no restriction on the weight of the vehicle.
  • The potential difference between any two points in the vehicle must not exceed 12 volts (18 volts if reverse mechanism is used).
  • The participants are advised to use proper air filters as dirt might cause problems to the IC engine.
  • A separate starter mechanism may be made or engine may be manually started. The engine must be started before putting it on the starting line. If your machine is unable to start at the prescribed time of race your attempt will be considered as an unsuccessful one.Beautiful and easy to understand UI, professional animations.
